Nestled against Sedona's iconic red rock formations, this resort course delivers one of Arizona's most visually stunning golf experiences. The layout weaves through desert terrain with dramatic elevation changes that showcase the towering sandstone monoliths from every angle, making it nearly impossible to focus on your scorecard when Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock dominate the horizon. The desert-style routing takes full advantage of the natural topography, with several holes playing significantly uphill or downhill through arroyos and around massive boulder formations. While the course conditioning can be inconsistent depending on the season, the spectacular setting more than compensates for any maintenance shortcomings. The greens tend to be true but can play firm, and the desert carries between holes demand accurate iron play. At resort rates, it's pricey for the golf alone, but you're really paying for the privilege of playing in one of the most photogenic locations in American golf. The walking-friendly policy is a nice touch, though you'll want to bring plenty of water and prepare for some serious elevation gains on the back nine.
