You'll find one of the Pacific Northwest's most visually striking golf experiences carved into the high desert landscape just west of Bend. The course winds through dramatic elevation changes and natural lava rock formations, with several holes offering postcard views of the Cascade Range including Mount Bachelor. The routing takes full advantage of the property's 300 feet of elevation change, creating memorable downhill shots and challenging uphill approaches that test both distance control and course management. What sets this layout apart is how seamlessly it integrates with the high desert terrain – you're playing through juniper trees, natural grass bunkers, and around ancient lava outcroppings that feel like they've been there for millennia. The conditioning is consistently excellent for a resort course that sees heavy play, and walking is not only allowed but recommended to fully appreciate the dramatic landscape transitions. At this elevation (around 3,600 feet), the ball flies noticeably farther, so club selection becomes an interesting puzzle throughout the round.
